STEVEN MICHAEL QUEZADA a native New Mexican started performing in elementary school and knew at a young age that his love was for the performing arts.
As he got older he realized that in order to survive as a performer in Albuquerque he would have to do more than just be an Actor. In the 1980’s there were very little roles for Latinos in this industry. After collage Steven quickly realized that there were few plays written for Chicanos and after working for a local theatre company for five years, as an Actor and Set Designer, his desire for original Chicano theatre forced him to take a leap of faith.
Steven went to work on writing, producing and starring in his first play “The First Chicano President”. To his surprise, the play sold out and became a local favorite for several years. This continued to be his passion and after the success of his next play “Homeless”, he realized that this was his career and he had to figure out how to bring in more income.
In 1987 Steven walked into a local bar and asked the owner if he could try Stand-up Comedy on his slowest night and if it brought in a crowd, the bar would start paying him. The first night a comedy producer came in looking for comedians to send on tour at his many comedy clubs throughout the southwest and the rest is history!
